Mods only work on the same version of Minecraft that they were designed for.

CurseForge is the only one I trust, also I recommend using the link in my signature and getting the StopModReposts browser extension to alert you when you visit a known rehost site.

Chances are you're downloading from rehost sites that are flagging non-1.14.2 mods as 1.14.2 compatible to get more clicks, more info on this in my signature below.

If you have 8G in your machine don't allocate more than 4G to Minecraft.

Where are you getting your mods?

How much ram do you have in your machine? I don't think this is directly related, but it's a frequent problem.
