  1. Calling someone a retard because you messed up. Classy. I suppose you'll blame Lex for you not looking at the wiki's install instructions next.
  2. Are you sure that no other function is bound to the 'c' key?
  3. That was quite an impressive build! Especially considering it's survival/non-cheat! Gave you a like, and a thank you for sharing.
  4. I've used Magic Launcher a little bit, but when I did, I noticed it was way more daunting to a new user than it needed to be. MultiMC is great for a new user, because it's fairly simple to use, less stuff to mess up, especially when you have someone telling you exactly what to do. You don't need to tell them how to download and create a new Minecraft instance, or how to put it in a new folder and select that jar, or what an "External mod" is versus a "mod." "Make a new instance. Click on Instance. Click on Edit Mods. Put these mods in 'JAR Mods', these in 'core mods', these in 'mods folder.'" Much less for someone who isn't familiar with the inner workings actually doing that means. Don't get me wrong, Magic Launcher works just fine, but I'd much rather tell someone how to set up a MultiMC instance than that. Or heaven forbid tell them how to do it manually. Ahh, alrighty. I've never actually used MultiMC, but I've never had big problems understanding how to install mods. In fact, I feel like an old pro at it. But yeah, I was in no way undermining your mention of MultiMC, nor am I implying that you said I was. It was just my personal experience. I'm going to give MultiMC a try now that I've been intrigued. Thanks for the semi-review on it. And I do see the extra simplicity in what you're saying that'd appeal further to new modders. Also, apologies to the OP for semi-derailing the topic.
  5. Can't personally speak for MultiMC, but Magic Launcher has the capabilities to install it just fine. For manual installation, you just force update your game to get a fresh minecraft.jar, open both the version of Forge you downloaded as well as the minecraft.jar with a capable archiver (WinRAR/7-Zip if on Windows will do), then drag the contents within the Forge.zip into the minecraft.jar, delete the META-INF from the minecraft.jar, and run the game. (To see if it all works, which it should) If at any point you installed another mod before Forge, such as ModLoader or ModLoaderMP, you've done it wrong. Do not install either of them. Forge is all you need.
  6. He may not give the nicest responses in the world, but he still takes time out of his day to reply. It's not that he doesn't know how to give "proper support". Here's something I'd like you to do. Count to 1000. Now pretend each one of those is a post, most of which are in reply to general support problems. Pretend that most of these support problems (though you won't need to pretend much) consist mainly of questions that have been asked probably 100 times before, most of which already have been answered. (Quite often in the thread just prior). Now consider all of the support questions that come in regarding errors that Forge itself did not cause. Furthermore, take into account all the people who expect Lex to hold their hand through a million tutorials on everything. You'd have to be a saint for this to not weigh very heavily on your patience. Add that on top of being the current lead maintainer of Forge, spending much of his day reviewing and repairing code, as well as taking suggestions that could possibly make the code better. That eats up a lot of time. And would eat up a lot more time if he went and sugarcoated everything. So he doesn't. And he shouldn't have to. This is Overmind's site for Lex's work.
  7. MCPatcher wasn't compatible with Forge before 4.0.0, so I don't see it being compatible now, really.
  8. How are you installing said mods? We need a little more information than that to know what's wrong.
  9. Well, the current builds are for 1.3.2. So it's a bit different. Perhaps wait until the mods update? Or you could dig through the Forge builds here for 1.3.1. I'm personally not sure which ones they might be.
  10. I'd advise against bumping your thread here. You'll usually get a slap on the wrist or something similar. I'm no moderator or anything, just friendly advice. Anyways, I thought the point of LAN servers in Minecraft was to eliminate the need for Hamachi when people were just using the same connection/IP? I've only ever used Hamachi for non-LAN servers.
  11. Have you any experience with java before Minecraft code? I'd not suggest attempting modding unless you have. Perhaps give the java tutorials over at TheNewBoston a watch. Trust me. I've previously attempted to jump straight to modding. It'll be incredibly difficult to create much meaningful if you don't understand what you're doing.
  12. And what of the client? Did you do anything with that? I'm pretty sure you need to install to both.
  13. Yes, downgrading would not only help, it's your only option if you really want to use these mods at the moment. You'll need to downgrade both Minecraft itself and Forge, so I'd suggest MCNostalgia to make downgrading easier (or you could simply download the 1.2.5 minecraft.jar (straight from minecraft.net), and replace your 1.3.2 .jar with it) as well as this version of Forge once you've set all that up. I hope that helps.
  14. Gonna give it a watch and see how it is.
  15. Yeah, at a glance, nothing seems off. But after a while, my game gets to a point where it's unplayable.
  16. Has the metadata always skyrocketed on the slimeophone? It goes into the hundreds of thousands for me. I have no idea if that would be the cause, but it does indeed seem that this mod is what is causing the increased memory usage and inevitable game-breaking lag, as it doesn't happen when I uninstall it. (I've only tested it on a server, but the increase only happens to my client) I'm not ignoring you. I just feel that it's rude to use people's mod threads as a place for conversation. So I avoid doing so.
  17. I can't be certain that it's your mod causing it, but the issue hadn't occurred before this moment in time. It seems there's a memory leak on the client side. The memory usage doesn't fluctuate, it just continues to rise and rise. I'll run a few more tests to confirm/disprove once I get off the server with my girlfriend.
  18. I'll give it a shot. I'll report my finds. I'll test both SSP and SMP as well. Thanks for the update.
  19. .152 isn't that outdated. It was the previous recommended Build I think. Also, to the OP, just because a mod says it requires a certain version doesn't always mean that it's exclusively compatible with said version. This normally only true if it installs something over Forge. Which, if it simply goes into the mod folder, it doesn't. in short, I'd suggest first trying the current Recommended Build. Your mods should work just fine with it as well, and if not, then you could try the version you're looking for. Here are the links. Current Recommended Build; 3.4.9.171 The Build You Requested; 3.3.8.152
  20. Don't triple post. Firstly, Optifine Ultra is mainly for Minecraft 1.3.1. Forge is not out for 1.3.1, and the only 1.2.5 version of Optifine Ultra available is a "Preview" which probably means that it's not so stable. Try getting one of the versions that are stable. (Standard, smooth, etc...) Next, I'm pretty sure you don't need to install Audiomod. Also, I don't know why wishinguponyou said they need to be installed to the .jar, but Shelf and Armor Stand mod work just fine for me when placed in the mods folder. (next to 60 other mods, in case you're worrying about incompatibilities... ) Lastly, everything goes into the mods folder. Except, as Overmind said, Forge and Optifine, which go into your minecraft.jar. Remember to install Optifine AFTER Forge. Make sure all the mods you're downloading are for 1.2.5 and not 1.3.1. Also, if your game isn't working already, don't add more mods to the mix while you're asking for help. >.< So, do the following... [*]Force Update to clean your Minecraft.jar, replacing the 1.3.1 jar with a fresh 1.2.5 jar. (can get 1.2.5 jar here) [straight from minecraft site] [*]Download and install Forge, THEN Optifine into the .jar [*]Delete META-INF folder from within the .jar [*]Download all those other mods you're wanting and place them into the mods folder, not in the .jar. Make sure you're getting the 1.2.5 versions. [*]If you installed anything besides Forge and Optifine into the .jar, start from step one again. (unless you get NEI or something too) P.S. - I said ".jar" 8 times in my post... Wow. Hi Atrain.
  21. I wish I could help out more than I can.
  22. Yeah. That's just my SMP one... Most of the mods are what you'd expect in tekkit, but a few additions as well as a few subtractions. For instance, where EE used to be, I put in Greg's Prospecting, and Treecapitator, which are mods I won't use along side EE. And a few other things I think. I went and grabbed them all manually. I have like 61 mods on my SSP setup. >.> After installing that many mods, I'm surprised Minecraft starts up for you. I'm a bit surprised too. But that's the power of Forge for you. Anyways, it's not the only way I play. I still enjoy vanilla games and more lightly modded games too. I'm just trying to get "content mods" that are reasonable to have with one another. I've also gotten the Aether, Forge Edition working on this 60+modded client as well... But I decided against it until I've played through more of it with less mods.
  23. What do you mean when entering Biome? Anyways, you're not really giving enough information to be getting on with. What methods did you use to install? What version of Forge are you running, as well as what versions of each mod are you using? Are they the only mods you're using?
  24. Yeah. I can honestly say that with what I've gotten out of it, and still get plenty out of, that Minecraft is probably the best $26 or so I ever spent on a videogame.
  25. Ah, I was wondering why the site seemed to have disappeared. Good to know that it didn't. EDIT: Though, the Wiki seems to still be down as well as the formatting bar at the top of each post being created seems to be missing...
