  1. This is [glow=#220000,2,300]not[/glow] the Forge Download thread. If you want to download Forge, go to this one; Main Forge Downloads (Just a little note to all who could have possibly gotten here from Google, or related post links...) -------------------------------------------------- I've recently come across a site while downloading some mods and plugins, and it's extremely similar to adf.ly. Cosmetically, the main difference is that the top bar is white. Where it really seems to shine is that it generates 13x the amount of revenue that adf.ly does. Adf.ly: [glow=black,2,300]$5.00 per 10,000 downloads.[/glow] (0.0005 cents per download) Adfoc.us: [glow=black,2,300]$6.50 per 1,000 downloads.[/glow] (0.0065 cents per download) If this website is for real, I'd very much like to see Forge's adf.ly links switch over to these ones, or perhaps add an option for it. I'm against not supporting the creators, and I'd like to show as much support as I can per download. As I'm sure many of us here at the forums would. I really hope you guys look into/consider it.
  2. Unless 1.3 inspires somebody to make a mod aimed at giving all of the latest changes to Minecraft that the official releases beyond 1.3 incorporate. (Aside from being required to run a server in the background at all times...) Which would be interesting.
  3. It depends on what you're going to be doing with it. If you're wanting it for only single player mods, you'll need to install the client version. If you're wanting to play with mods on a server, you'll need both the client and server. SRC is for if you actually want to develop your own mods using Forge. So, simple rundown; Only client for just Singleplayer. Both Client and Server for Multiplayer SRC only if you plan on developing mods. Other than that, installation instructions can be found on the wiki.
  4. The only thing I'd use is Greg's Prospecting. But I try to only use it in things such as Technic pack where you need a billion materials to even get started with some of the things. At least it still requires me to go and dig for it all. And it throws you off when you find things such as webs and wood. But for mostly vanilla games, I don't use it as I'd not really need many expensive materials for anything in the first place, so using it hurts my play.
  5. Aww... Shucks...
  6. Both of which are mods. NotEnoughItems (or "NEI") is a lot like the "TooManyItems" mod except that you can disable cheats with it and just use it to show you recipes or usages of a block/item. CraftGuide adds a book to the game that can show you all the crafting recipes. Both support many popular special recipes for popular mods such as IC2, BuildCraft, and RedPower. And it can show absolutely any recipes that use a standard crafting table or furnace as well, even if it's from mods. Give them a shot. Personally, I use both, as sometimes one can show recipes the other can't. Always good to have one to fall back on.
  7. -Puts Aether into Technic Pack-.... .... -Works... for now- Will my computer survive?
  8. Hey there. I'm not having any problems or anything. I've just got a few things on my mind and wanted to discuss perhaps. Anyways. First off. Does anyone else use the Technic Pack? If so, what are your favorite things to do in it? I just enjoy building all kinds of crazy machines that do a variety of things. I like EE, but I feel it overpowers my game, so I remove it from my personal copy of Technic. In its place, I use Greg's prospecting mod. Because a ton of materials are needed, and it seems to pick them up alright. At least I still have to go digging for it. Next up, has anyone else here heard? The Aether is "apparantly" migrating to Forge API. It may soon be possible to add other mods to it. I've never actually played the Aether myself, mainly because I never got around to it, another reason is because it didn't use Forge, which prevented me from using a plethora of other mods that I enjoy. Is anyone else excited for it? There's a pre-release that I'm considering downloading to try out. The last bit is a question, but nothing urgent. This is the reason I put this in General discussion for Forge...
  9. Well, about ModLoader; Its functionality is now bundled with Forge. So Forge no longer depends on you to have ModLoader installed. In fact, putting them both in messes things up more often than not. Next, I've personally seen Lex mention that MCPatcher edits like 6 base classes even if you tell it not to do anything. Which is bad. If you absolutely must use a patcher, try MultiMC or Magic Launcher.
  10. I've updated on all of my Minecraft versions... And I have not run into any problems at all, myself. Not with Redpower or any other mods. I wonder what's different on your end? Different Minecraft setups I run:
  11. Forge Modding Support may or may not be a great idea as a new board. In terms of how people will see it on the site, it'll be a place seen explicitly for asking about problems one might be having with the code. It's not difficult to see why people believe the current "Support" selection is only for installation errors, and why they instead ask the general discussion board instead. With the internet, you can't leave much to speculation. Someone is bound to speculate incorrectly, and others will follow in their example before they're corrected, as it may be the first they've seen on it. But I think the real problem of having it as its own board would be that far too many people will expect you to hold their hand through the coding process and expect everyone to bend over backwards to show them how to do something correctly. Uhh... I think. Don't mind me if I'm just blabbing.
  12. I'm thanking you for one of the best broments I've ever seen. :') Speaking of which, is there a possible way to have adf.ly give money to someone else instead of depositing to your own account?
  13. Hey Overmind... Is the newer versions of lwjgl better by any means? Would upgrading to latest be beneficial to me?
  14. Literally the only thing I know about lwjgl is that it stands for "Lightweight Java Game Library"... I couldn't tell you if it kills any mods. But programming and such is what I'm going to college for. So maybe once I learn a bit more about such things, I'll actually be able to give decent help.
  15. Forge is installed to .minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar and the META-INF is deleted in there too. Is that what's going on? I'm confused anymore...
  16. Try looking into you .minecraft/config directory. There should be configuration files in there for some of the mods. At least one of them (I hope) will allow you to configure it. If not, suggest to the authors that they create code for block configuration...
  17. Could be that multiple blocks are trying to occupy slot 255. Perhaps you can configure them to use a different slot?
  18. Deleting META-INF is almost always required for installing mods. Are your archivers merging folders and overwriting files correctly? Anyways, when installing forge tot he client, ALWAYS delete META-INF. Only when installing to a server should you leave it be. I'm sorry if none of that's useful. I know literally nothing about Ubuntu.
  19. Optifine is always a great choice. If MultiCore doesn't work for you, standard at least should. I downloaded the Multicore for my Quadcore, but my game stuttered every time I broke a block. Still, it's different for everyone. Give it a shot. Again, if multicore doesn't work, give standard or smooth a shot.
  20. Or... Wait. Did you actually just mean the material chests those two mods add, or did you mean the entirety of those two mods? Because if you meant the two extra chests it adds, then support for that has already been uploaded and linked to. Check the OP!
  21. That's the most critical information you could have given. X] Try again with these steps: [*]Force Update Minecraft to clean it up [*]Download Recommended or Latest Forge build [*]Open minecraft.jar using your favorite archiver (7-Zip should be fine) [*]Open Forge.zip (try to be sure to open it with the same archiver) [*]Drag and drop all files from Forge.zip into the minecraft.jar (be sure to not accidentally place it in a folder) [*]Delete META-INF Folder within minecraft.jar [*]Play before installing any other mod to be sure it worked If the above steps lead you to the same problem, try making sure your archiver is up to date and/or try a different one. (Such as WinRAR)
  22. I believe there was another thread the other day that had a similar problem. I think Lex said that EE2 needs to update. I'm looking for the thread now to be sure. For now... Did you try both the recommended build and the Latest? Or just the latest?
  23. Are you doing it all manually, or with a patcher? What archiver are you using? Operating system? What's the error you're receiving if any? Please provide a stack trace and any other error reports in spoilers... Also, you should be doing it both without ModLoader and ModLoaderMP. Forge has both built into it now. You just install Forge and delete META-INF.
  24. Ha... It may be a while before I take on something so large. I'll look at some of the textures from both and see if I'm up for the task. No promises.
  25. I really, really enjoy this mod! Any plans for new gizmos or features?
