ups, haven't seen that your create a Backpack, means you can't use the ItemHandlerCapability since the Capability is already attached to the Player but you could create a Capability which is similar to the ItemHandlerCapability

you don't need a custom Capability, you could use Forge's ItemHandlerCapability

then you need to expands the ItemHandler to 4 Slots

you can screach for the class in your IDE in eclipse the shortcut is CTRL + SHIFT + H

did you use java 17? if yes downgrade to java version 16 for 1.17 and 8-18 for 1.16 or below
