Whops, cpw forgot to actually verify that the server was signed by mojang before trying to grab it's signature. Fixed in 781.

I advise dropping any plans of custom launchers with the new official launcher. Find a way to install your modpack as a profile in the new launcher.

Yes, just because you do things one way doesn't mean you're the majority. And no we didn't make it didn't to help rare cases, it was actually a really common case because sadly most people don't know how to use archival tools. As you're demonstrating now, by the fact that you don't know a jar IS a zip file. -.- Your problem isn't a problem with Forge. You simply don't understand how the new system works. Explain to me how having a '.zip' file helps you?

Its up, its just getitng hammered, we are switching to a new dedicated server once OM gets time to do it. For now jsut be patient and kind to our poor little server, she scares easily.

Zips are jars so there's that. And just magically being a zip doesn't make you compatible with things. So no... we'll keep the format we have.Times change, this new system was developed along side Mojang to directly fix a lot of issues that the old system caused. And in actually makes life a lot easier for majority of users. it is rather simple for Base editing mods to move to Forge and our open source installing system.

Xue, Minecraft version, not Forge version. And yes you should be able to set a profile's GameDir and it'll make a profile specific mods folder.

1) ASM should ALWAYS be a last resort, so what are you trying to do? 2) Your transformer is a lot more cplicated then it needs to be... This is Forge's public class ForgeAccessTransformer extends AccessTransformer { public ForgeAccessTransformer() throws IOException { super("forge_at.cfg"); } } And for as to why your coremod isnt loading, you need to pass in the proper environment parameters. fml.coreMods.load

Auto Update of Forge (new Launcher)
As it sits, I have no legitimate reason for saying no more then I don't want to become homeless. The little bit of money i do get through user's clicking the adfly is what pays my rent. Without it, I live on the streets. {Trust me guys I earn it..} So automated downloads are a no-go. Also, it would be a major waist. Having things download every version esp when we do nights with quite a few builds. Typically once you have Forge installed, you don't need to update it unless there is a new RB or one of your mods explicitly says that it needs a newer version. The only caveat to that is when you report bugs ALWAYS verify you're on the latest version. Aside from that, think of the bandwidth issues, we get enough server troubles with people manually checking for updates, automated would put the nail in the coffin. But ya, mainly if you're a few versions behind its not a major deal. If you're hundreds of versions behind.. that's a different story.

Not able to reproduce this on mine or anyone i can talk tos end. But someone mentioned that it might be the secure sockets derping up on your computer. Please go to /fml/fml.py line #78 change the https to just http https://github.com/MinecraftForge/FML/blob/master/install/fml.py#L78 See if that helps.

1) You're a fucking moron, you will realise this isn't FORGE's code, it's Mojangs. It's Minecraft itself. We don't touch this part at all. So quit bitching at us, 2) We are not a 24/7 at your beck and call service. This is done for you for free with our spare time. So if it takes a couple hours to get a response so be it. 3) I dont control, nore look at the wiki, its all community based. If it's telling you that you need to add a registerIcon to everyone single one of your block classes then 1) they are wrong and doing and 2) Your '30+ years' should of taught you how to do your own research. There is a function in both block and item that lets you set the icon name, domain and all. Use it -.- And next time don't be a twat about having to wait a little bit and bitch about shit just because you fail to understand it.

But one simple question. What if you want to change the version of Forge you're using in a particular modpack profile. Hence why I suggest /profiles/{name}/mods. But this up to cpw, From my last glance ModLoader still only supported ./minecraft/mods. FML supports ./mincraft/mods/{version} in addition to ./minecraft/mods
